Overflow Plan 2025

Principles

  • Our conviction is to worship together as one church in one service

  • Our desire is to welcome and show hospitality to visitors and guests

Problem

  • Our attendance has regularly exceeded our Main Hall Capacity for seating

  • Guests who show up after 10:30 have a hard time finding seats and are often put up front or moved to overflow

  • Other problems include limited parking available and hallways being congested with people gathering

Proposal

  • A full Main Hall (MH) requires us to put intentional effort into organizing overflow

  • We are asking members to volunteer to sit in the overflow, which is in the Fellowship Hall (FH), until constructions starts

    • We will have ushers, greeters, offering, and Lord’s Supper available in overflow

  • Classroom B is reserved as training room for parents with children

Process

  • There will be a link to a form sent out each week (by Wednesday at the latest).

  • This form will be where you can volunteer you and your family to sit in the Fellowship Hall for the following Sunday.

  • You will also be able to see on the form how many people are still needed to volunteer.

  • PLEASE NOTE: If you are scheduled to serve in some way during the service (scripture reader, sermon text reader, gathering the offering, etc), you are still welcome to volunteer to sit in overflow, and then to enter the Main Hall when it is time for you to fulfill your role in the service.

Some other ways we can all practice welcoming one another and guests at JPBC

  • When you arrive - Come early, ready to greet and talk.

  • Where you park - Our parking lot is confusing and the backlot is not obvious to new guests. Please consider reserving front lot for new guests, families, elderly.  Park in the back lot if possible, on the street, or at Fry's Spring.

  • Who you talk to - Members should see new faces or someone sitting by themselves as an important opportunity to welcome them.

  • Where you talk - Avoid long conversations in the middle of the aisles of the MH or in the hallway in front of bathrooms and main entrance. Ideally longer conversations should move to the fellowship hall.

  • Where you sit - Please consider others. Leave outside seats open for people coming in after you.
