2025 Year In Review

Corporate Worship

  • Gathered corporately to regularly enjoy the ordinary means of grace together: hearing God’s Word, joining together in prayer, singing with and to one another, celebrating baptism and the Lord’s Supper

    • Sunday sermon series: Matthew, James, Hebrews, John, 1 Thessalonians

    • Wednesday devotional series: Rest, The Trinity, Hospitality/Giving/Encouragement, Emotional Life Of Our Lord, Ordinances of Christ, Full Counsel of God

  • Sang together and united in prayer as a church at Wednesday night services and hymn sings

  • Averaged 4.7 water bottles clanks per Sunday

Members’ Meetings

  • Members’ meetings have been well-attended and focused on membership, ministry and missions updates, and the building project

    • Total membership is 207

      • 28 added (7 baptisms), 21 removed

    • 2025-26 budget was $653,245 and 6-month giving surplus was $15,590.93 (July-December)

    • 2025 January-December giving was $636,146.18 (budget year is July-June)

    • 2025 Capital Campaign raised $208,788.10

  • Appointed Zac Willis to serve as a deacon

  • Hired Daniel Hiler to serve as a pastoral assistant 

Building Project

  • Underwent major building renovations beginning in May 2025, including:

    • Fellowship Hall expansion and refinishing

    • Nursery expansion and refinishing

    • New dedicated nursing mothers’ room

    • New Children’s Wing across from nursery

    • New playground area, leveled with retaining wall, and play structure

    • 2 new family bathrooms added

    • Existing upstairs bathrooms renovated

    • New windows throughout the building

Mount View Baptist Church Revitalization

  • In August, Ben began communicating with MVBC about the possibility of becoming their next pastor

  • After preaching 4 times, Ben was called as pastor by MVBC on November 23

  • Ben started on Jan 1 and a team of ~35 members was sent out with him for the work of revitalization

Church Life

  • Celebrated 6 weddings, 5 engagements, 9 babies born, 1 child adopted, and 2 children fostered

  • Celebrated a Keithceanera for 15 years of Keith’s faithful ministry

  • Children of the church continued to hear the gospel in Bible Basics, Foundations, and choir

  • Youth ministry studied various Bible series, continued monthly events, and started summer fun nights

  • Women’s ministry met for Bible studies and 7 baby/bridal prayer showers

  • Blessed with a number of men teaching on Wednesday nights and participating in service review

  • Elders emphasized Hospitality and encouraged members hosting and opening up their homes to others

  • Virginia Institute of Theology continued to equip and educate members through Doctrine of the Trinity in the spring, Teaching & Preaching in the fall, and a conference with Dr. Wellum 

  • Campus Outreach faithfully discipled and evangelized college students at UVA in its third year

    • Opportunity to minister and be a light to the family of Nico Ramos

    • Encouraging participation in beach project, winter conference, and Thailand mission trip

  • The summer internship class of 9 students served the church, grew in discipleship, and led Kids Camp

  • The OG Fellowship met regularly and provided worship services at Linden House Assisted Living

  • The Mercy Ministry continued to bless our homebound and helped other members serve them well

  • Grew in member assimilation into service and discipleship in the church

Church Partnerships

  • Provided pulpit supply and strengthened partnerships with a number of local churches such as Rockfish Valley Baptist, Hillsboro Baptist, and Covesville Baptist

  • On December 7, Grace Faith Chinese Church ordained their first 2 elders after Ben walking alongside them for many years and Josh preaching monthly

  • Pastor and members from Fork Union Baptist attended VIT and members’ meetings to be helped for how to bring in elders, and were thankful for JPBC as a good resource

Outreach & Missions

  • Continued outreach to Southwood and Westhaven neighborhoods in kids Bible study and Soccer Camp

  • WayTruthLife ministry maintained a faithful gospel witness at local abortion clinics and saved 3 lives

  • Strengthened missions partnerships through pastors and members visiting Million and Manasseh in Zambia, the Oliveira family in Portugal, the Collins family in China, and a visit from the Wang family
