Speaker profiles

Tom Nettles Mark Dever

Tom Nettles is a graduate of Mississippi College (B.A.), and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div.; Ph.D.). Before coming to Southern in 1997, he taught at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Chicago and Mid-America Seminary in Memphis. Among his most significant works is Baptists and the Bible, co-authored with Russ Bush, which helped define inerrancy as the historic Baptist view of the Bible at the height of the Southern Baptist conservative renewal controversy. Nettles also authored the influential book God of Grace and God of Glory, which uncovered the neglected Reformation roots of the Southern Baptist founders.

Mark Dever is a graduate of Duke University (B.A.), Gordon-Conwell Seminary (M.Div.), the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (Th.M.), and Cambridge University (Ph.D. in Church History). He is pastor of Capitol Hill Baptist Church, a thriving congregation in the center of Washington that includes hundreds of young, urban professionals. Dever also serves in leadership for 9 Marks Ministry (www.9marks.org), an organization devoted to church reformation and renewal.
